20.00 Opening of the exhibition Ciprian Homorodean, “I Am Luke Skywalker”.

“<I Am Luke Skywalker> reflects on the topic of identification with a familiar hero as a way of evasion from a world whose realities are too bleak to leave any place for the individual. It is a discourse on personal dreams by means of identification with a fictional character, who has become more than a role model: he is a symbol of the attempt to materialize the most intimate dreams. Luke does not exist, but the reality created by means of his influence is more real than ever, repeating itself in an eternal time bubble.” (Dana Altman)

19.00 Stefan Constantinescu, “Dacia 1300 My Generation” & “Passagen”, video projections.

“Dacia 1300, My Generation” is a film about comunist regime. What is it like to live under a totalitarian regime? How are you influenced by terror and oppression? What paths does your life take when you can’t trust those around you, your neighbors? When anyone could be an informant, a collaborator or snitch? When your life becomes more and more squalid, the electricity is cut off, food is rationed and the stores are empty and you, yourself, are forced to move to the outskirts of the city?

“El Pasaje” (the passage, the ticket), is about the existential transition of three Chileans who were forced to leave Chile after the Pinochet controlled coup d’etat of 1973. All three ended up living under Nicolae Ceausesc’s communist dictatorship, and over time, two of them left for Sweden. El Pasaje is a film about refugees, strangers, the past, prejudices and loneliness.

Before projections Tom Sandqvist, curator, writer and scientist, will talk about Stefan Constantinescu’s work.
Production realized with support of KONSTNÄRSNÄMNDEN- THE ARTS GRANTS COMMITTEE.
